Hundreds of people have contributed to a social history website which was officially launched on March 31st. My House of European History has been compiling an amazing data base of real stories sent in from all over Europe.
The Orkney News first covered the project in My House of European History Wants to Hear From You in February. The launch of the website means you can browse through all the contributions that have been uploaded so far, in their original language or in English if a translation was requested by the author.
My House of European History states:
“What does it mean to be a European? It’s not just the great leaders: all people are a part of this history and they have a valuable role to play in preserving this common heritage and identity of ours. So dig through your photos, your videos or even sound files, find digital content you feel is appropriate to share with everyone and upload it to My House of European History, our collaborative platform that aims to become a virtual library of testimonials and stories from people across Europe.”
Contributions can still be uploaded to the site. There are no stories yet from Orkney so if you have one why not share it.
