Visit to Eilean Donan Castle at Dornie

A day trip oot needed as weather still weet n dreary☁🌧🌦. Invergarry to Dornie is aboot 41miles drive away, so it seemed needed tae cheer us all up.

Dornie has a castle called “Eilean Donan”. It is well known as Scotlands most romantic castle. Lt.Col. McCrae-Gilstrap bought and rebuilt the castle between 1912 & 1932. It is very popular for weddings in their exquisite Banqueting room which can easily cater for 80 to 90 people. After the ceremony you can host a reception in the Billeting room. The guests can then enjoy beautiful views over the loch to Skye from the castle courtyard.

There are great facilities at this site. Car & coach parking, well equipped toilets, gift shop, cafeteria with inside & outside seating areas.

While we were having a tea & cake break, we were very fortunate to have a delightful conversation with Mrs Marigold MacCrae (2 Orkney News reporters with Mrs MacCrae) who is the President of the Clan MacCrae, her daughter Baroness Miranda Van Lynden is Head of the McCrae of Conchra.

We all had a great day out here and will definitely return here in the future.
