Recruiting Retained Firefighters and The Community Asset Register

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) is on a recruitment drive across  Orkney:

Retained = Retrained

You must be aged 18 years or over, have a good level of physical fitness, have the required standard of vision and colour perception. You will be required to be readily available to attend incidents and should therefore live or work around 5 – 8 minutes from the Fire Station you are applying for.

Retained firefighters are required at the following stations:

Community Asset Register

This is a data base of volunteers and their equipment who would be able to protect and support their communities in an emergency.

The volunteers work alongside the SFRS and the other emergency agencies.

Community volunteer assets could include 4×4 vehicles, boats, generators, diggers etc, or specialised skills such as rope or water rescue qualifications. “

The data base will be administered by SFRS and will be accessed by other emergency responders.
