1. Yesterdays was a Club fungus – Trichoglossum hirsutum. I thought ‘hirsute’ meant hairy – but I didn’t ‘do’ Latin at school, and remember the old rhyme

   “Latin is a dead language
   As dead as dead can be.
   It killed the Ancient Britons
   And now it’s killing me!”
