Midhowe Broch, Rousay

Known as the Egypt of the North, the island of Rousay is abundant in archaeological wonders.

Midhowe Broch cared for by Historic Environment Scotland, is free to visit and well worth the effort to get to.

Its stunning coastal location gives clear views over to The Broch of Gurness, Evie and out across  Eynhallow Sound.

The Iron Age broch is in excellent condition  and it is perfectly safe to wander through.

Inside and out the stone work is amazing.

Just a short ferry journey from Tingwall it is well worth popping over and spending the day there. Orkney ferries Rousay
