Commemorating Notable Scots

Nominations are now open for the Commemorative Plaque scheme run by Historic Environment Scotland. The Commemorative Plaques are placed usually on  a building which has some connection with a person of note who lived or worked there at some time.

“Plaques are a great way of highlighting the important link between people and places, making the connection between individuals and the built environment that shaped their life and work.

“As well as a way of celebrating Scotland’s luminaries, the plaque scheme is an important opportunity to shine a light on those lesser-known figures from Scotland’s history and bring their stories to national consciousness.” Neil Gregory, Deputy Head of Engagement at HES

Historic Environment Scotland are particularly keen this year to have nominations from minority communities.

Nominations close on 30th of August 2019.
