Dear Orkney News,
I’m not one to complain but I have to register my outrage at the sight of the protests against our Prime Minister’s visit to Orkney.
Not much of an Orkney welcome for Boris after coming all the way up here, a distance that even a myopic government adviser would be hard pressed to drive during a pandemic. What these protestors fail to understand is that nobody voted for them to speak out on behalf of the people of Orkney against the elected leader of England and Wales.
Boris and his party have brought us the many benefits of the Union, such as having free movement and the ability to work in Europe until Hogmanay, and the exciting potential after Brexit of an entirely new career, depending on what is left.
The protestors are probably supporters of Sturgeon, who did not even have the common decency to respond to the announcement of the Scottish visit Boris didn’t send to her.
The eggs thrown at the PM were a particular concern, and to those denying this I can attest that I personally heard this from a friend who spoke to someone who was present when their husband overheard it in Tesco, so they need to accept the truth for once and own up.
These people simply think they have a right to protest whenever they feel like it, and although Boris was only here for a very few hours it was certainly not the right time for protests against his visit, which could have been held after he’d gone, and which would have been less embarrassing for us all here on Orkney.
I met my friend this morning just outside the Food Bank, and we talked together about the shame we both feel regarding these ridiculous and embarrassing protests, that Orkney has now come to this in the 21st century.

I’ve never heard such rubbish Boris and his Westminster cronies are responsible for the deaths of thousands of people and I’m glad people of Orkney stood up and showed him and his government what they thought of him the egg throwing was rubbish someone made that up just to make the protesters look bad Emily you are completely deluded if you think for one minute that the tories had done anything to help us in Scotland all they are interested in is bleeding Scotland dry

Protests against Boris Johnson take place wherever he goes, anywhere beteen Orkney to Dover or Shetland to Cornwall.
He is rgarded as the most divisive, least honest and least trusted UK Prime Minister.
After all he has fallen out with the Governments of the 3 UK Devolved Governments Government, 27 Eu Governments, along with Russia & China.
Even hisfriend, Donald Trump in USA has slapped 25 % tariffs on many Scottish & UK goods.
This is a free country, people can protest if they like. Although I did note on the TV coverage that there were no many people out supporting BJ!

Open your eyes , As Boris had said before Scotland means nothing to him , Orkney is a wonderful place which I visited on numerous times whilst working in Shetland for 30 plus years .I must congratulate Orcadians on there response to Boris Johnsons visit
