For this year’s Fairtrade Fortnight, 22nd February to 7th March, children and young people aged 5-25 are invited to share their vision of the world they want, for farmers and workers worldwide, and for the planet we share.

Our choices are powerful. The daily decisions we make about what we eat, drink and wear affect the lives of people around the world, and the health of the planet we share; farmers producers, and businesses, here in Orkney and far beyond. What does the world you want to see look like?
Create an art work in any medium you like; write a piece of prose or a poem; or make a film. There will be an online exhibition of entries from all across the UK as part of the Fairtrade Foundation’s online Choose the world you want festival.
Orkney entries can also be shown on Orkney Fair Trade Group’s Facebook page; and the group plans to mount a live exhibition as soon as public events are possible again.
So it’s time to get to work now! There is lots of inspiration being posted on our Facebook page.
The closing date is March 1st 2021.
Email your vision to schools@fairtrade.org.uk with the subject line CHOOSE THE WORLD
YOU WANT and copy to orkneyfairtradegroup@gmail.com State your name and age in the email.
By sending in an entry, you consent to it being used in the Youth Exhibition at the festival, on the OFTG facebook page, and for promotional use thereafter. Make sure you have permission from a parent or guardian.
TOP TIPs:
If an image, try to take a clear photo in natural lighting. Try to fill the whole frame with
your artwork.
If a video, it must be shot in landscape, not portrait, and shared with us via a link to the vido
on YouTube or Vimeo.
If you have written a poem or prose, please keep it to a maximum of one side of A4 and
share electronically as an email, Word document or PDF.
