SEPA #Flood Alert for #Orkney

A FLOOD ALERT has been issued for Orkney.

Later on Sunday and then on Monday and Tuesday strong winds and milder air are expected to become established across the area. Lying snow is expected to start melting at most levels and although no significant rainfall is expected, there is the potential for flooding from small watercourses and rivers. Any flooding impacts are most likely to include flooding to low-lying land and roads and individual properties. Surface water may also be an issue in low-lying areas especially if the ground remains frozen. SEPA will continue to monitor the situation, round the clock, and further updates will be provided here if the situation changes.

Remain vigilant and remember, it is your responsibility to take actions which help protect yourself and your property.  Advice and information is also available through Floodline on 0345 9881188.  This FLOOD ALERT is now in force until further notice and was sent by phone and sms free of charge to registered customers of our Floodline direct warning service.  If you haven’t already signed up to receive free flood messages, please call Floodline or register online at sepa.org.uk/floodingsignup.

  1. Hi…the telephone alert from Sepa came through too late to be of much use today for Scapa Flow facing communities. I’d be interested to know when you received the online version?
