Staying dry through the morning with mist and low cloud dispersing and bright or sunny spells developing. Rain reaching Orkney later in the afternoon with freshening southeast winds. Maximum temperature 16 °C.


Rain, heavy at times, soon reaching Shetland, but turning drier and clearer across Orkney by midnight. Rain then turning light and patchy over Shetland with some mist and drizzle. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Thursday 12th August:

Any mist and drizzle soon clearing Shetland to leave a mainly dry and bright day with sunny spells. However, becoming windy with a few showers in the evening. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Windy with bright spells and showers on Friday and Saturday, heavy at times. The showers are expected to die out on Sunday with mainly bright conditions and easing winds. Information from The Met Office
