The cumulative total of Covid cases in Orkney is now at 327 as 3 new positive test results were recorded in the Health Board area.
From 27th September to 1st October 2021 the cases recorded in Orkney were as follows:
- West Mainland: 7
- Stromness, Sandwick, Stenness: 0 – 2
- East Mainland: 0 – 2
- North Isles, Linked South Isles, Hoy, Flotta: 0 – 2
The stats for Scotland published on 4th October were as follows:
- 1,760 new cases of COVID-19 reported
- 19,959 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results
- 9.4% of these were positive
- 0 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive (noting that Register Offices are now generally closed at weekends)
- 67 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
- 1,001 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
- 4,217,940 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and 3,847,118 have received their second dose
People are reminded to:
- get the vaccine when you are offered it
- wear a face covering where required
- wash your hands regularly, and cover your nose and mouth if coughing or sneezing
- self isolate and take a PCR test if you have symptoms
- take regular tests if you don’t have symptoms to reduce the risk of spreading the virus
- meet outside if you can, and open windows when indoors
- keep your distance from people not in your group
- work from home, or do a mixture of home and office working if possible
- use the apps: COVID status (vaccine passport), Protect Scotland and Check-in Scotland

Businesses can use the free NHS Scotland Covid Check App to verify the QR codes on official Covid Certificates: www.covidcheck.scot
Proof of vaccination will be required to enter:
- late night venues open after midnight with alcohol and music and dancing
- unseated indoor live events, with more than 500 people in the audience
- unseated outdoor live events, with more than 4,000 people in the audience
- any event, of any nature, which has more than 10,000 people in attendance
- no personal data is stored on the NHS Scotland Covid Check app
