Hedgehogs and Bonfires

By Bernie Bell

This is just a reminder, before the 5th of November, about checking your bonfire for hedgehogs.

What we see as a potential bonfire, they see as potentially a good place to hibernate.  Then when you light the bonfire, the hedgehog won’t run like hell to get out of it – the hedgehog’s natural response is to curl up in a ball and stay put.

A bit like some folk do when they don’t like what’s happening around them!

Hugh Warwick has written a good piece about this issue…..  https://www.change.org/p/help-save-britain-s-hedgehogs-with-hedgehog-highways/u/29790121?cs_tk=Apa3oRxdvLeBMvnniGEAAXicyyvNyQEABF8BvEDoX1a3xfbvKxraFignoHg%3D&utm_campaign=57b6cfeefb764c7981d98b39542df89b&utm_content=initial_v0_5_0&utm_medium=email&utm_source=petition_update&utm_term=cs

For November the 5th – THINK HEDGEHOG!
