25 New #Covid Cases in Orkney

The cumulative total of Covid cases in Orkney is now at 756 as 25 new positive test results were recorded in the Health Board area.

Deaths

In the week ending 7 November, 140 deaths were registered where COVID-19 was on the death certificate. 25 deaths were aged under 65, 43 were aged 65-74, and there were 72 deaths in people aged 75 or over. 78 deaths were male and 62 were female.

116 deaths were in hospitals, 10 were in care homes, and 14 were at home or in a non-institutional setting.

Since the start of the outbreak:

Pete Whitehouse, Director of Statistical Services, said:

“The latest figures show that last week there were 140 deaths where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate. This is five more deaths than the previous week.”

“The number of deaths from all causes registered in Scotland in this week was 1,288, which is 209, or 19%, more than the five year average.” 

There were 30 more deaths from cancer, 26 more from circulatory causes, 7 more from dementia/Alzheimer’s and 5 more from respiratory causes last week compared to average levels. There were also 36 excess deaths from other causes. The number of deaths where COVID-19 was the underlying cause was 106.
