  1. From the 16th of May, masks will no longer be required on flights in the EU – in a tube of re-cycled air.

Please note the cautionary advice from European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).

    Please.

It could be said that folk can choose not to fly – but not all can do so – some are expected by their employers to fly to meetings etc. And if they say no?

They can still choose to wear a mask – but how many people will make that choice? And how effective is the protection against infection going to be for one, or just a few, people in a ‘plane full?
It needs to be a concerted, world-wide effort – has always needed to be a concerted world-wide effort.

Some chance – we’re human. Free will has a lot to answer for. Governments have a lot to answer for. I suppose they’re human, too.

  2. Yes, this is definitely worrying. And it definitely puts me off flying or spending time in airports.

And I share the concerns expressed by the moderator (at the bottom of section [3] Asymptomatic Cases in this promedmail article https://promedmail.org/promed-post/?id=8703201):

‘The combination of 60% or more of infected individuals being asymptomatic or presymptomatic and a large proportion of the population not wearing masks is a recipe for a public health disaster. It is important that the public be educated on the risk to themselves and others when masks are not worn in enclosed or crowded spaces.’

Ya’ can tak’ a horse to water, but ya’ canna mak’ it drink. Unfortunately.

  3. Is Chinese the only country able to properly tackle this threat to the future of mankind?
