35 New #Covid Cases in Orkney: Weekly Update

From 17th to 23rd of July 2022 there were 35 new Covid cases recorded in Orkney with a positivity rate of 156.3 (per 100,000). This brought the cumulative total of Covid cases recorded in Orkney to 6,044.

The monitoring of waste water in the Kirkwall sewage network continues to show a positive record for  coronavirus’ ribonucleic acid (RNA) in local waste water .

“In Scotland, during the period 01 July 2022 to 14 July 2022 COVID-19 wastewater levels varied between 90 to 160 Mgc/p/d. Considerable uncertainty is present, but indications are that in the most recent week of data, COVID-19 viral levels in wastewater are increasing.” PHS Statistical Report

In Scotland 1 in 15 people are estimated to have Covid – 340,900 people.

In the week ending 17 July 2022, there were 82 deaths involving COVID-19 (the same as the previous week) (source: National Records of Scotland). Covid was the underlying cause of 46 of the deaths.
