Covid
- In Scotland, in the week ending 31 January 2023, the estimated number of people testing positive for COVID-19 was 82,300 (95% credible interval: 66,000 to 100,300), equating to 1.56% of the population, or around 1 in 65 people (Source: Coronavirus (COVID-19) Infection Survey, UK – Office for National Statistics)
- There were on average 702 patients in hospital with COVID-19, a 2.0% decrease from the previous week ending 05 February 2023 (716)
- As part of the Winter 2022 vaccination programme 1,987,154 people have been vaccinated for COVID-19 and 1,933,083 adults have been vaccinated for influenza. 90.0% were vaccinated for influenza and COVID-19 at the same vaccination appointment
In the latest week ending 12 February 2023, there were 222 new COVID-19 admissions to hospital. Hospital admissions for the most recent week are provisional and should be treated with caution. At the time of publication there were no data available for three NHS Health Boards, and the previous week’s figures have been rolled forward.
In the week ending 29 January 20232 , 25.7% of stays had a LOS between 2-3 days.
Between 08 January 2023 and 05 February 2023, 38.4% of hospital stays in the 80+ age group were 8 or more days in length, while 59.0% of hospital stays in the Under 18 age group were 1 day or less in length.
In the most recent week ending 12 February 2023, on average there were 702 patients in hospital with COVID-19 which is a 2.0% decrease from the previous week ending 05 February 2023, when on average there were 716 patients.
The number of COVID-19 patients in hospital is an indicative measure of the pressure on hospitals, as these patients still require isolation from other patients for infection control purposes.
In the week ending 12 February 2023 there were 10 admissions to ICU, an increase of 1 from the previous week (05 February 2023) when there were 9 admissions.

Flu
Influenza remained at Low activity level (1.8 per 100,000 population). There were 100 laboratory-confirmed influenza cases: 57 type A (not subtyped), 12 A(H3), two A(H1N1)pdm09 and 29 type B.
The incidence rate of influenza remained at Low activity level (1.8 per 100,000 population).
NHS Orkney remained at Moderate activity level. Activity across most NHS Health Boards was higher than what was reported for the same week of the 2021/2022 season
