On 21st January 1846 the newspaper ‘The Daily News, founded by Charles Dickens, was first published.

Charles Dickens was also the first editor of the radical newspaper which was seen as a response to the right wing ‘Morning Chronicle’.

At first it was not a commercial success but writing for it were some of the leading writers of the 19th Century: Charles MackayHarriet MartineauGeorge Bernard ShawH. G. WellsG. K. Chesterton and Ferdinando Petruccelli della Gattina
