Sunny spells and scattered showers this morning, the showers dying out across Orkney through the morning and then Shetland during the early afternoon. Fresh southwesterly winds backing southerly and easing. Maximum temperature 15 °C.
Tonight:
A fine, dry evening with some late sunshine but cloud increasing. Outbreaks of occasionally heavy rain reach Orkney soon after midnight and Shetland by dawn. Strengthening southeasterly winds. Minimum temperature 10 °C.
Tuesday 27th August:
Cloudy start with occasionally heavy rain, the rain clearing through the morning to leave sunny spells and a few showers for the afternoon. Strong southeasterly then southwesterly winds, easing later. Maximum temperature 18 °C.
Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:
Clear or sunny spells and showers Wednesday and Thursday, although the risk of more persistent rain for Shetland overnight into Thursday. Cloudier Friday with showers or longer spells of rain.
