A dry start with bright spells before a band of low cloud and rain moves northwards. Rain clearing Orkney by the afternoon with sunny spells developing. Rain then clearing Shetland later in the day. Wind strengthening through the afternoon. Maximum temperature 9 °C.
Tonight:
Dry through the evening with plenty of clear spells. Remaining dry overnight but turning cloudier. Strong southerly winds in the evening, easing for Orkney through the early hours. Minimum temperature 7 °C.
Friday 7 March:
Cloudy and mainly dry in the morning with the odd shower possible. A dry afternoon with cloud breaking up allowing sunny spells to develop as winds fall light. Maximum temperature 9 °C.
Outlook for Saturday to Monday:
Mostly dry with sunny spells Saturday with rain moving into Orkney later. Rain and cloud persisting over Orkney Sunday, drier and brighter for Shetland. Turning colder Monday with wintry showers.
