This past weekend, the Deerness Hall was full of creativity and talent as it hosted the Friends of St Ninian’s (FOSN) Arts and Crafts Fair. The event showcased some of the most remarkable talents from Deerness and other parts of Orkney.
Undeterred by the weather, the full car park showed how popular this event has become. Visitors began with a super lunch at the Mermaid Café, renowned for its delicious soups, sandwiches, and home-bakes. The main hall was a treasure trove of handmade goods, featuring everything from Bramble Jam and macaroons to freshly roasted coffee.
Art lovers were treated to a stunning array of full-size paintings and photographs, while craft enthusiasts marvelled at the knitted toys, bags, and jewellery on display. The fair also featured unique items like knitted covers for chocolate oranges, soft toys, hats, and scarves.
The FOSN Art & Craft Fair was not just an exhibition but a celebration of local talent. It was a perfect opportunity for us to support local artisans and find unique gifts for the upcoming holiday season.
