This years Christmas Antique and Collectors Fair is on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th December (this weekend coming) at Finstown Community Centre from 11am to 4pm each day.
Amazingly, this is our four year anniversary event as the first fair was in December 2021 being very much an experiment to see if an antique fair would be viable in Orkney. Little did we know, it would be a great success and go from strength to strength becoming a tri-annual fixture in Finstown Community Centre.
From humble beginnings we now have dealers coming up from the south and from Shetland next year. The fair this weekend is the biggest yet and there will be a wider range of antiques and collectables, including a selection of lovely rugs and carpets. Orkney chairs. Also, some fine ship models and naval paintings and several interesting Ian MacInnes paintings, including a lovely one of Stromness.
For those that like more recent mid-century style, there will be a great range of 1950-70s items, especially lamps and furniture. Overall, there will also be a good choice of old antique furniture (including a splendid early 1700s oak coffer), paintings, Orkney books and postcards and much, much, more. As usual, it’s free entry with a seating area for tea, coffee, homebakes and bacon roles.
