The Pier Arts Centre currently hosts three exhibitions presenting the work of Orkney artists.

So I thought I’d cover the others! This is a purely personal, individual selection – just what particularly caught my eye.
First…. on the ground floor…….’Gen-erate’ presents the work of the latest generation of Orkney artists and designers to graduate from Art Schools & Universities across Scotland
Turning left through the door-way….Anna Charlotta Gardiner (UHI, Orkney).
We tried to take pictures of the lists of the works on display, sometimes successfully, sometimes not – there were a lot of reflections on the glass. The list of Anna’s works, worked
And here are the pieces……absolutely stunning
They look like fish caught in the net – but they’re feathers!
And a ghostly, watery scene
Plus, there’s poetry being read out, the text of which is on the window-sill.
Next, Mollie Forsyth (Glasgow School of Art) and ‘Wanderlust – A multifunctional Dreamscape for the imagination of the public’

The shadow profile on the left of the next pic. is actually Mike’s elbow – but I think it fits!

Standing in that room – we could hear Seagulls squawking outside which also …fitted somehow.
We didn’t manage the list of Hannah Wooldrage’s work (Grey’s School of Art, Robert Gordon University), but the pieces speak for themselves.
Ami Robb (I’m afraid I forgot to write down which Art School/University she graduated from!) presented a thoughtful/ interesting/fun piece.
A fish creel with tags attached. The idea is that folk write or draw – or both – on tags and attach them to the creel – tags and pens are provided…..we both contributed!
And the same goes for the work of Jenny Rendall McElroy (Glasgow School of Art)
I covet this pomegranate.
Upstairs, to view ‘Cast Forward’ which presents art work by Orkney’s Senior School Pupils

The exhibitions run until the 18th of April – so there’s plenty of time for you to see them!
