It’s an international day highlighting the bravery of meningitis survivors and those whose lives have been changed forever through losing someone to the disease.

St Magnus Cathedral, Kirkwall was lit up in orange on Monday 22nd of April, as part of the Go Orange campaign to raise awareness of Multiple Sclerosis.
“It is the International Year of the Periodic Table as it has been 150 years since Mendeleev produced the first recognisable version of the Periodic Table and we are celebrating in many different ways, including the knitting project.”

There are many fundraisers taking place to help raise awareness about Meningitis, fund research and provide support.
Today sees the start of MS Awareness Week running from 22nd – 28th of April.
On Saturday 27th April there will be a Research Day in the Archive Room, Orkney Library and Archive in Kirkwall from 10 am – 4 pm
The consultation closes on Friday May 24 and the results will be considered by the Council’s Licensing Committee at a later date.
The exhibition is on from 20th – 30th of April from 11am to 4pm. Closed Sundays.
