Orkney #Covid #Vaccination Update: 70.4% 1st Dose

The first dose of the covid vaccination has now been administered to 2,322,832 people in Scotland, 51.1% of the population.

279,814, 6.2% have had the second dose.

In Orkney 70.4% of islanders have had their first jag with 6.4% having received the second.

Two shots are needed to ensure the best protection against the worst effects of Covid19.

In Scotland the two types of vaccination being used are Pfizer and AstraZeneca.

The roll out of the vaccination programme was done in order of priority of those whose health it was considered would be impacted most severely by contracting Covid19.

Transmission is thought to now be more likely to be spread by younger age groups but even those who have been vaccinated may still be able to transmit Covid. It is more important than ever that we continue to observe FACTS.
