The cumulative total of positive Covid tests recorded in Orkney now stands at 95
The stats for Scotland published on 2nd July 2021 are as follows:
- 3,823 new cases of COVID-19 reported
- 37,689 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results
- 10.8% of these were positive
- 4 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive
- 19 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
- 285 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
- 3,831,770 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and 2,737,347 have received their second dose
The FM of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon today emphasised the importance of vaccination and whilst this is really important we have to remember that the whole world needs vaccinated so while people can still travel about and go on holiday abroad the virus can also travel. As the virus travels and transfers from person to person it also has more opportunities to mutate.
Yesterday we published the stats on younger people, where most of the positive cases are now being recorded.

Scotland has stepped up its vaccination programme and from Monday all mainland health boards will offer drop-in coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination clinics. Everyone aged 18 and over can attend for their first dose or – if eight weeks have passed – their second dose.
Vaccination in Orkney
Anyone in Orkney, aged over 18 who has not yet had the Covid vaccination is being invited to attend an evening drop-in session:
KIRKWALL VACCINATION CENTRE – NO APPOINTMENT REQUIRED
Tuesday 6th of July – 5PM to 7PM
The sessions will be held in the Kirkwall Vaccination Centre (on the old Balfour site) and patients requiring their first vaccination will be welcome to drop in without the need to book an appointment.
