The latest information on Covid related deaths has been published by the National Records of Scotland on 8th September 2022. It is as follows:
- As of 4th September 2022, there have been a total of 15,622 deaths registered in Scotland where the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) was mentioned on the death certificate.
- In week 35 there were 30 deaths involving COVID-19 (11 fewer than the previous week).
- The provisional total number of all deaths registered in Scotland in week 35 of 2022 (29th August to 4th September) was 1,067 (39 or 4% above the 5-year average).
In 11 of the 30 deaths Covid was the main cause.
Age Groups of Covid Related Deaths:
- Age 15 – 44 : 1 death, Female
- Age 45 – 64: 3 deaths, 2 Female, 1 Males
- Age 65 – 74: 3 death, Male
- Age 75 – 84: 12 deaths. 4 Female, 8 Male
- Age 85+ : 11 deaths, 7 Female, 4 Male
Three of the deaths occurred in Care Homes, 4 at Home/Non Institutional Setting, and 23 in Hospital.
There were for that week 1,067 deaths from all causes in Scotland. The number of excess deaths taken over a 5 year average was 39.
