Statistics published by the National Records of Scotland on 16th March 2023 are as follows:
- The provisional total number of deaths registered in Scotland in week 10 of 2023 (6th to 12th March) was 1,284 (55 or 4% above the 5-year average).
- In week 10 there were 62 deaths involving COVID-19 (22 more than the previous week).
- As of 12th March 2023, there have been a total of 17,001 deaths registered in Scotland where the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) was mentioned on the death certificate.

Age 15 – 44: 1 Death, Female
Age 45 – 64: 8 Deaths, 5 Female, 3 Male
Age 65 – 74: 8 Deaths, 3 Female, 5 Male
Age 75 – 84: 16 Deaths, 7 Female, 9 Male
Age 85+ : 29 Deaths, 14 Female, 15 Male
There were 12 deaths in Care Homes, 5 at Home/Non Institutional Setting, 44 in Hospital and 1 in an other institution.
There were 1,284 deaths due to all causes. An excess of 55 deaths over the 5 year average.
Of the 62 deaths involving Covid, Covid was the main cause in 45 of them.
