- The provisional total number of deaths registered in Scotland in week 21 of 2023 (22nd to 28th May) was 1,082 (4 or 0.4% above the 5-year average).
- As of 28th May 2023, there have been a total of 17,633 deaths registered in Scotland where the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) was mentioned on the death certificate.
- In week 21 there were 13 deaths involving COVID-19 (12 fewer than the previous week).

Age 65 – 74: 3 deaths, 1 female, 2 male
Age 75 – 84: 5 deaths, 2 female, 3 male

Of the 13 deaths involving Covid, Covid was the underlying cause in 9 of them.
Twelve of the deaths took place in Hospital and 1 at Home/Non Institutional Setting.
