Scotland Continues to Record Excess Deaths

The number of deaths registered weekly in Scotland continues to show an excess over the 5 year average.

National Records of Scotland published 15th June 2023 is as follows:

Deaths involving Covid

Age 65 – 74: 2 deaths, female

Age 75 – 84: 6 deaths, 3 female, 3 male

Age 85 +: 7 deaths, 3 female, 4 male

There were 13 deaths in Hospital, 1 at Home/Non Institutional Setting and 1 in a Care Home.

Of the 15 deaths involving Covid, Covid was the underlying cause in 11 of them.

There were 1,141 deaths due to all causes an excess of 39 deaths taken over a 5 year average.

Excess deaths occurred in Dementia/Alzheimer’s +1; Circulatory +7; Respiratory +1; and Other Causes +34
