SPRING COVID BOOSTERS
Stromness Surgery are holding Covid Vaccine Clinics at the Surgery on Tues 23 & Thurs 25 April. These boosters are for patients age 75 & over – born on or before 30 June 1949. Phone the Surgery on 850205 to make an appointment.

The Number of acute COVID-19 admissions to hospital in Scotland week ending 24th March 2024 was 48, compared to 78 the previous week.

The Number of inpatients with COVID-19 in hospital (seven day average) for the same period was 124, an increase from the previous week from 109.

Between 28 March and 3 October 2024, PHS (Public Health Scotland) has moved to dashboard only updates for respiratory infection and COVID-19 surveillance on a four weekly basis and are reducing the frequency of the accompanying narrative report to monthly. The next report will be on 18 April. 

Monitoring to pinpoint fragments of coronavirus’ ribonucleic acid (RNA) in local waste water samples in Scotland.

The last published data for Orkney was on 12th March 24.

National Record of Scotland published the weekly deaths on 28th March 2024.

The provisional total number of deaths registered in Scotland in week 12 of 2024 (18th March to 24th March) was 1,262 (85 or 6% lower than the expected number of deaths in week 12). There were 10 deaths mentioning COVID-19.

Deaths involving Covid

There were 10 deaths involving Covid – Covid was the main cause in 7 of them. There was 1 death in a Care Home, 1 at Home/Non-Institutional Setting, and 8 in Hospital.

There were 1,262 deaths due to all causes.
