First Minister of Scotland, John Swinney, has selected his team to serve in the Government of Scotland.
On Thursday 7 May, voters in Scotland elected the 129 MSPs to sit in the Scottish Parliament.
Kenny Gibson SNP MSP was elected by the Parliament to be the Presiding Officer, therefore the makeup of the parties is as follows:
- Scottish National Party – 57 MSPs, Party leader: John Swinney
- Reform UK – 17 MSPs, Party leader: Malcolm Offord
- Scottish Labour Party – 17 MSPs, Party leader: Anas Sarwar
- Scottish Green Party – 15 MSPs, Party leader: Ross Greer and Gillian Mackay
- Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party – 12 MSPs, Party leader: Russell Findlay
- Scottish Liberal Democrats – 10 MSPs, Party leader: Alex Cole-Hamilton
- No Party Affiliation – 1 MSP, Presiding Officer: Kenneth Gibson
MSPs supporting Scottish Independence : 72, MSPs supporting continued union in the UK : 56. The Scottish National Party (SNP) as the largest party has formed the Scottish Government.
