A generally dull Boxing Day with low cloud persistent for many, the best chance of brighter spells across Orkney in the afternoon. Cloud may be thick enough to give the odd spot of light drizzle across Shetland. Light winds. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Tonight:

A mainly dry, cloudy evening and start to the night. Clear spells will develop from the north after midnight, but a few spots of rain possible in the early hours. Minimum temperature 3 °C.

Saturday 27 December :

A dry bright day with sunny spells. A moderate northerly breeze across Shetland, with light to moderate winds for Orkney. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Dry and cloudy Sunday. Some showery rain on Sunday night into early Monday, and possibly Monday night. A chance of possibly wintry showers across Shetland on Tuesday. Variable cloud amounts.
