Today 11 January :
It will be a cloudy day with a band of rain spreading northeastwards bringing some heavy downpours of rain at times. Drier spells may develop for Orkney later. Strong southerly winds with gales, especially over Shetland. Maximum temperature 6 °C.
Tonight:
Remaining cloudy in the evening with further outbreaks of heavy rain pushing northeastwards. Turning drier overnight with some clear intervals developing. Strong winds and risk of gales persisting overnight. Minimum temperature 4 °C.
Monday 12 January :
Some outbreaks of rain possible but a largely dry day with some bright and sunny intervals. Strong winds and gales gradually easing in the evening. Maximum temperature 8 °C.
Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:
Remaining unsettled with outbreaks of rain interspersed with drier and brighter spells. Rain may turn sleet at times. Breezy at times but mostly light winds.
