Shetland will be cloudy with some light and patchy rain in the morning, turning dry with sunny spells developing in the afternoon. Orkney will stay dry throughout with long periods of sunshine developing. Light southeasterly winds. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Tonight:

Turning cloudier across all parts in the evening with outbreaks of light rain. Remaining cloudy with outbreaks of rain overnight. Southeasterly winds strengthening overnight. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Tuesday 20 January :

A cloudy morning with outbreaks of rain. Becoming drier with sunny spells developing over Orkney by the afternoon before drier and brighter conditions spread to Shetland. Fresh southeasterly winds. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Bands of rain and showers will push northwards through this period. These bands will be interspersed with occasional spells of drier and brighter conditions. Winds strengthening with risk of gales.
