Approaching Muscat harbour, Bettany pointed out what she described as ‘monumental bits of graffiti’  left by British sailors – being the names of their ships, in stone on the hillside.

It’s the same principle as the ship’s names left on the hillside by Loch Eriboll, Sutherland
