It’s there in black and white
Oystercatchers dashing in small groups
Then scattering – it’s every bird for itself!
Shrieking their shrill OMGs
“It’s here! It’s here! There it is! There it is! There it is!”

Bonxie cruises by, close inshore
Massive, its imperturbable self

Turnstones wheel in tight formation
Settle for a moment
Start at nothing
And they’re off again, hearts racing
