At 117 feet long and with a beam of 28 feet, this three-masted ship was built to be capable of sailing through broken ice, to act as an ice breaker and also to withstand the pressures of being trapped and frozen in the ice fields as happened many whalers of that time
Commercial whalers in Iceland will be permitted to kill 209 fin whales and 217 minke whales every year until 2023.
