Shetland faring best with occasional brighter spells with most avoiding the few isolated showers that cross the Islands. Orkney rather cloudy with occasional showers, that merge to longer periods of rain towards early evening. Light winds. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Tonight:

Shetland beginning dry. Otherwise a cloudy, wet night across the Northern Isles with rain turning heavy at times. Winds increasing strong north to northeast, before easing a little towards dawn. Minimum temperature 9 °C.

Thursday 23rd May:

Rain occasionally heavy at first, but turning patchy from mid-morning. Cloudy and misty with some fog patches. North to northeast winds fresh at first. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Misty start for Friday with some drizzly showers, turning dry and occasionally bright later in the day. Saturday dry for most but rather cloudy. Showers building through Sunday.
