CLAN Family Fun Day

Outstanding Orkney athletes William Sichel  and Marty Flett will run and cycle for twelve hours at the Pickaquoy Sport Centre on Saturday, October 21 during a family fun day to raise money for CLAN Cancer Support.

The event will start at 6am and organisers have offered islanders the opportunity to run or cycle alongside the athletes for an hour in return for a donation. They hope to have people supporting them for each hour of the twelve-hour challenge.

A family fun day, with charity stalls, activities, games and music will also be held at the sport centre for those who come to support the athletes.

Karen Scott, CLAN’s cancer support services area manager said:

cyclist“We were delighted when William and Marty approached us, again, with the idea of an endurance based fundraising event. They have been in training for some time and are looking forward to hitting the track this week.”

“We have offered people the chance to run or cycle alongside them for an hour in exchange for a donation and hope to have someone involved for each of the 12 hours that they are in action.”

Marty Flett, an Ambassador for CLAN Cancer Support, said:

“We want to encourage folk to join us as part of their own fitness challenge. It may be the beginning of their own keep fit routine or they may be regulars at the sports centre. The event is about having a healthy fitness regime and of course raising some money for a charity I hugely support.”

“There will also be family fun day stalls, activities, games and music for people who come along and we are expecting a strong turnout on the day.”
