Editorial
The Orkney News is a community based independent and not for profit online media outlet. This means we don’t harm any trees. It also means our reach goes well beyond Orkney. Worldwide infact and we have the stats to prove it.
Just as the New York Times does not report on matters only happening in New York so too The Orkney News does not merely report on matters happening in Orkney.
You will find no posts about lost cats and missing coats because there are plenty of good sites on social media which are very effective for teaming up losts and founds.
In the true tradition of Orkney’s press of the past, The Orkney Herald and The Orcadian we cover a wide range of articles. What’s more, also true to that tradition, we publish short stories and poems.
Online media has opened up a whole range of creative possibilities to deliver ‘news’ and information. The Orkney News was developed to give a voice to those who were finding it difficult to get their views and events published.
We will always remain free to view and our news reports are factually accurate including links to documents and external links so that readers can make up their own minds.
If you want to get our daily reports please follow the website and never miss a posting. But you will also find us on Facebook and Twitter.
