The latest pay offer by Total has been rejected by the membership of Unite by a decisive 95%.
The industrial action affects the Alwyn, Dunbar and Elgin rigs.
The next meeting between the employers and the unions at ACAS will be on Thursday 13 September. If an agreement is not reached a 12 hour stoppage for 17th of September will go ahead.
Wullie Wallace, Unite regional industrial officer, said:
“The emphatic vote to reject the revised pay offer by Total demonstrates that we are a significant way off from agreement.
“Unite is committed to returning to negotiations under the auspices of ACAS this week, however, based on the strength of feeling among our offshore membership this must surely lead to Total management seriously revising their strategy.
“If not, then prospective industrial action is inevitable and it will lead to further disruption of the company’s operations.”
Further industrial action is scheduled for October – 1st, 15th and 29th
