Orcadian Alison Drever has been appointed as the first National Director of Children’s Neighbourhoods Scotland (CNS) . This is a new position which Alison will take up next week (18th of February).
Alison Drever began her teaching career at Papdale Primary School in Kirkwall. For 6 years she has been with Education Scotland on developing the curriculum and the Scottish Attainment Challenge.
“I’ll be based in Glasgow, but my job will be to expand the programme into other areas, including smaller towns and rural areas. Being from Orkney, I’m looking forward to working in smaller areas across Scotland as well as the bigger urban centres.
“This is a new role and it is a bit of a blank canvas, but I know it will provide a unique opportunity that goes beyond education where I’ve spent my career to date. I’m really looking forward to the new challenges this post will bring.”
The role of the National Director is based in Glasgow University. Scotland’s first Neighbourhood in Scotland is in Bridgeton and Dalmarnock in the East End of Glasgow.
