Orkney Set to Host The Convention of The Highlands and Islands

Scottish Government Ministers will be in Orkney tomorrow, Monday 4th of March as the Convention of the Highlands and Islands meets in Orkney.

The meeting is open  to the public and takes place in King St Halls, Kirkwall with registration at 9am.

The Convention meets twice a year and is made up of a core group including the relevant local authorities.

At Monday’s meeting top topics will be Transport, the Marine economy and post Brexit Shared Prosperity. You can find the documents from the previous meetings here: Convention of the Highlands and Islands 

Brexit will dominate proceedings with the Deputy First Minister, John Swinney chairing the meeting. Other Scottish Ministers present will be

  • Islands Minister –  Paul Wheelhouse
  • Rural Economy Secretary – Fergus Ewing
  • Minister for Public Finance and Digital Economy – Kate Forbes
