In a close fought competition the runner up position went to The Kirk Café’s Salted Caramel & Chocolate Brownies.
There was a strong showing across the board, including from some of the islands’ smaller outlets.
Lorna Penny, Chair of Orkney Fair Trade Group, commented:
“We really appreciated the extraordinary variety of Fairbakes created. Chefs and café managers said that they had had a lot of fun dreaming up as many different ways to use the Fairtrade cocoa as possible and showed such flair and imagination in their baking. Customers obviously loved it, with nearly 300 votes rolling in from all across Orkney”.
Lucky winner of the Fairtrade Chocolate Hamper, drawn from all the nominations made, was Hilary Morrell who enjoyed her Fairbake at the Birsay Bay Tearooms.
