By Richard Wallace
I climbed the highest mountain
I watched the eagle soar
I went to the valley bottom
The valley bottom and more
I spun on the crest of a mighty wave
While a hurricane raged in the sky
I flirted with fame and fortune
It’s enough to make you cry
*****
I shouldered the clouds of darkness
While thunder had its way
I wrestled fire and lightning
Then the sun took it all away
The coyote called to the husky
With a mystical melody
The message was there for all of us
Strange that I didn’t see
*****
Consider the highest mountain
Consider the valley floor
The wrestle with fire and lightning
Each day brought more and more
And still there are those among us
While under a deep blue sky
Who would trade this for fame and fortune
It’s enough to make you cry
