On the 12th of  May 1999 the Scottish Parliament reconvened with Dr Winifred M Ewing MSP as acting Presiding Officer.

Her first words to the Parliament were – “The Scottish Parliament which adjourned on the 25th of March in the year 1707 is hereby reconvened.”
