Local MSP John Finnie, Scottish Greens has criticised the lack of input during the dispute from the Scottish Government’s Transport Minister, Michael Matheson.

John Finnie said:

“The Scottish Government owns HIAL, but the Transport Secretary has been posted missing during these negotiations.

“I’m not sure that Ministers in Edinburgh fully appreciate the significance of these connections, if they did maybe they’d have taken action to resolve this dispute already.

“Air traffic controllers ensure that my constituents in remote and island communities can make lifeline connections and I’m grateful for the important job they do.

“I have been fully supportive of Prospect and its members throughout the process, and hope that the situation is resolved satisfactorily soon.”
