World Wildlife Fund Delighted with Scotland’s Climate Change Plans

climate-changeThe WWF – Uk is delighted that the  Scottish Parliament’s Environment, Climate Change & Land Reform Committee  has voted to set a net zero target to end Scotland’s contribution to climate change by 2045 and to include a commitment to help keep global warming below 1.5 degrees.

They’ve also agreed to look again at how the final law can give the importance of 1.5 even more emphasis. This matters, because every half a degree of warming matters, with real and dire consequences for people and nature.

This is a step in the right direction – a Bill that is strong enough to transform Scotland’s climate commitments into ambitious action.  Thank you for your support. WWF -UK

The Climate Change (Emissions Reduction Targets) (Scotland) Bill is at Stage 2 in its progress through the Scottish Parliament. The report by the committee can be accessed here: Report on the Climate Change Bill

  1. It should of course be remembered that many of the large environmental charities are not always supporting what their donors think ….. Hiding behind the pr smokescreen is an organisation supporting trophy hunting , seal clubbing and even in support of a return of commercial whaling
