Orkney’s Community Choir conducted by London-based choirmaster and theatre director Tom Sergeant gave a joyous performance on Friday 19th of July.
With only 4 hours of rehearsal, the event on the steps of the Cathedral, entertained locals and visitors alike.
Commenting before the event, Sally Shaw, Chief Officer of Orkney Health and Care said:
“We’re developing plans to help ensure that people with learning disabilities can live longer, healthier lives, take part in all aspects of local life and flourish as individuals.
“Inclusiveness is the key to this. We can be proud that in Orkney we have an inclusive and welcoming community – and this specially formed choir will symbolise that.
“But there are always further steps we can all take to make sure people with learning disabilities can be as actively involved in community life as possible.
“So we will also use the occasion to launch a consultation and ask for feedback on our new Learning Disabilities Strategy for the years ahead.”
