Dear Orkney News,

On 1st October the Orkney Renewable Energy Forum (OREF) unveiled the Sustainable Orkney Conference.

The idea is for the whole of Orcadian society to come together to discuss the climate emergency and how we tackle it at the local level. This will include looking at actions already taken, those in the process of being implemented currently, and ideas for future actions.

The main conference will take place 20-22 March 2020 at the Pickaquoy Centre, Kirkwall, with the 3 days following that given over to producing concrete proposals for future actions and collaborations.

In order for Orkney to survive and prosper in the coming decades we all need to come together as Orcadians and map out our collective future, and we hope that this conference will play a part in this effort.
